Focus on areas of spending - using Funds * Start with the Funds page * Use Change Fund Names to name the Funds you want to use * Use Transfer to set their opening balances - take the money out of My Cash. * Use Allocate Salary to set up how much of your monthly salary goes into each Fund in future * Use the Funds you have set up when making payments or receiving money. * Once you have made a number of payments you will be able to see the results in the Spending page. Planning your future spending - Budgets * There are 3 useful tools on the Budgets page: * Monthly budget calculator helps you work out a monthly budget from your daily or weekly spending * Typical annual items helps you budget monthly for big annual or quarterly expenses * Link budgets to funds helps you build up funds to cover various expenses * Once you have built up figures for funds you can start allocating your monthly salary as described in the Funds section * Over time, you can monitor your spending out of these funds on the Spending page * If funds keep going negative, you either need to reduce your spending or increase your budgets
* There is a button on the Accounts page for Standing Orders * This takes you to a Standing Order form where you can set up regular monthly payments - there is space for up to 20 * You must specify a bank account or credit card for each item from the drop down list * You also need to specify a fund, but if you are not using funds yet, just use My Cash * If you are setting up standing orders for future use, you should just click Done when you have finished - the information will be retained, but no transactions will be posted * If you want to post a transaction, click on Post standing order - you will be asked for a line number - this is the reference number in the blue cells * When the line has been posted, it will be shaded in grey. You can still post it a second time if you really want to, but this would be an unusual thing to do. (Probably only because you missed it in the previous month. The grey shading is cleared when you run the Month End on the Spending page.)
* On the Transactions (Workings) page there is a Reconciliation button * If you click on this it opens the Reconciliation page * You can select the account you want to reconcile and enter the closing balance figure from your bank or card statement * When you click on the Reconcile button, your transactions are brought across from the Transactions page for comparison * If any items are not on the statement you have received, change the "Y" in the Chk column to "N" - this will take them out of the PYRSE total figure * If any items have different values on the statement, change Chk to "N" and enter the statement value in the yellow cell (Column F) on that row * If there are items on the statement that are not in the PYRSE system, you have a choice: - enter them as Payments or Receipts on the Accounts page and then re-run the Reconciliation process - list them in the Adjustments table (Columns J to L) - do this if you wish to dispute them or are not certain what they are |
